The medieval catapults had in common with the Roman Onager, only the Torsionsprinzip. Even in the medieval Mange (manga) the throwing arm stuck with its lower end in a Torsionsstrang. The abutments for the throwing arm consisted of a horizontal cross-beams, were attached to the cushion for the throwing arm. At its upper end, he ran out into a kind of spoon to hold the projectile. Leader position in the arm was vertical and could be dragged down into a horizontal position and locked there for almost throw up. One came to the bolt out, the arm jerked forward and described a quarter of a circle of 90 degrees. The Mange had a much longer acceleration path as the Roman Onager, and thus possessed of a greater range. The average range of medieval stones for manganese was 30 kg weight at about 400 meters.
